“Reflections of a Gym Rat…A Half-Century of Playing, and Thinking Basketball” by Ev Cochrane

20 Aug

My friend and colleague Ev Cochrane dropped off a signed copy of his new book today. Pretty much everybody of a certain age in Ames, Iowa knows Ev and/or his late father, Ev Sr. They have been apartment owners in the community for a long time. Ev is an interesting guy and a basketball aficionado. I look foward to reading the book. Many Central Iowa people have enjoyed playing pickup basketball at and around Iowa State over the past several decades. That is harder to do of late as the University has pretty much cut off access to its gyms to all but students.

Have you read any of the books of David Shields? Several about him playing basketball. His last book is Reality Hunger.

Mark – I have not read anything by David Shields. I see he is a graduate of the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. Thanks for the recommendation.
